Kindergarten teacher

Technology

I am currently working on my Masters degree and one of the requirements was to create a blog or participate in a blog discussion.  This is my first experience with this type of thing and I find it very interesting.

I am teaching my first year of kindergarten in an independent school.  I consider our school to be lacking in the technology department.  We have one computer in our classroom for all of our students to share and no other exposure to technology outside of the classroom.  I'm not exactly sure what I should be doing within the classroom to give my students a head start in the technology department.  Currently the students use the computer to play educational games.  Also, occassionally we borrow school laptops and the students get to type a sentence or two on their own.  I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on other ways in which we could use the computer in the classroom.

Are you able to hook the computer to a television screen?  I found that to be one way to use interactive learning sites with the whole class as a teaching tool.  Video streaming was also effective when connected to the television.
